A firm has been hired to conduct a consumer sentiment survey on energy efficiency in homes to understand consumers’ decision-making, willingness to pay, and willing tradeoffs when considering energy efficient upgrades or net zero homes, specifically in Alberta. This survey will also gauge consumers’ knowledge of what a net zero home is, and what it means. The results of this survey will help inform industry when making decisions on what energy efficient upgrades to include in new home construction. As well as to understand consumer sentiment around energy efficiency in homes to assist with changes in construction due to the new National Tiered Energy Codes. The findings are expected in June and a report will be circulated with members.
