Off-Site Levies

As an industry, we support paying our fair share of cost-conscience infrastructure based on the degree of benefit. This support is not absolute and requires significant transparency, accountability, and fiscal responsibility from municipal partners. Through City Charters, Calgary and Edmonton have expanded authorities to charge new developments for infrastructure and facilities that are not within proximity and serve no benefit. This goes beyond the core purpose and intent of levies. BILD Alberta is advocating that all City Charter policies related to off-site levies be removed to provide consistent, predictable and transparent rules across the province.
